The Katsina State Police Command has reassured the public that it has put in place comprehensive measures to prevent the upcoming nationwide #FearlessOctober1st protest from spiraling into disorder. This assurance comes amid growing concerns over the potential for violence, especially in light of previous protests that turned destructive, such as the recent nationwide demonstrations against bad governance, which tragically led to the loss of lives and destruction of property valued at billions of naira.
Speaking to our correspondent in Katsina on Saturday evening, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, stated that the command has mobilized a combination of human and intelligence resources to ensure public safety before, during, and after the protest. He emphasized that the police are committed to maintaining law and order, and that all necessary steps have been taken to mitigate any risk of violence or disruption.
The police command’s proactive approach is aimed at reassuring residents of their safety, while allowing for the peaceful exercise of the constitutional right to protest. ASP Sadiq further noted that the authorities are prepared to respond swiftly and effectively should any unforeseen incidents occur, with the goal of preserving peace and protecting lives and property throughout the duration of the protest.
