The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board has suspended two officers from the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre in Lagos.
The suspension follows a voice note from Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan) in which Idris Okuneye, a.k.a. Bobrisky, claimed that after his conviction for naira note abuse, his godfather and the Nigerian Correctional Service Controller General arranged for him to serve his sentence in a private apartment.
According to a memo signed by the board’s secretary, Ja’afaru Ahmed, the suspended officers are Michael Anugwa and Sikiru Adekunle, both Deputy Controllers at the Kirikiri facility.
The memo also mentioned the suspension of ASC II Ogbule Obinna from the MSCC in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, for allegedly escorting an inmate out of the facility, and DCC Iloafonsi Ikechukwu from Kuje MSCC for allegedly receiving money on behalf of an inmate.
The board stated the suspensions are to allow proper investigations into the allegations, with results to be made public once concluded.
