Israel’s civil defense agency issued an order on Sunday to close all schools in the northern part of the country in response to continued rocket fire from the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah and the escalating violence along the border. This directive followed a series of cross-border exchanges between Hezbollah and Israeli forces, further intensifying tensions in the region.

The military’s Home Front Command confirmed that the closure would affect all schools, educational institutions, and related activities, and would remain in effect until at least 6:00 pm (1500 GMT) on Monday. The decision was taken to ensure the safety of students and staff amid the ongoing hostilities, which have increasingly put northern Israel within the range of Hezbollah’s attacks.

Meanwhile, in Lebanon, the health ministry announced on Sunday that the death toll from an Israeli air strike earlier in the week had risen to 45. The strike had targeted Hezbollah military commanders in Beirut’s southern suburbs, an area known for its Hezbollah presence. The casualties have continued to increase as authorities assess the aftermath of the attack. The rising toll highlights the severity of the conflict, with both sides exchanging heavy fire, resulting in significant loss of life and destruction.
