The Lagos State Government has announced the reopening of the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge, located in the Maryland area, after being temporarily closed for nearly two months. According to a statement released by the Commissioner for Transport, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, on Monday, the bridge underwent extensive repairs carried out by the state Ministry of Works. The rehabilitation project, which began on July 22, 2024, was part of the government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure.

Osiyemi highlighted that the reopening of the bridge would significantly ease traffic flow and facilitate smoother movement between Lagos Mainland and Island, providing relief to commuters.

During the reopening ceremony, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat issued a stern warning to vandals and scavengers, emphasizing the severe consequences of damaging public infrastructure and the importance of safeguarding government property.
