Gombe State Donates N100 Million to Borno Flood Victims, Offers Condolences

The Gombe State Government has shown support for Borno State following the recent flood disaster that impacted the state capital and nearby regions. Gombe’s Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, who is currently abroad, was represented by a delegation led by Deputy Governor Manassah Jatau. The delegation presented a donation of N100 million to aid the flood victims, as detailed in a press statement by Ismaila Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs at Gombe Government House.

The statement noted that Governor Yahaya expressed the solidarity of the Gombe people during visits to the Government House and the Shehu of Borno’s palace in Maiduguri, emphasizing the strong bond between the two states. Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, mentioned that upon learning of the flood, Governor Yahaya promptly directed the visit, highlighting the close relationship between the neighboring states.

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum thanked the Gombe Government for their support and assured that the donation would be used effectively to address the flood’s impact. The Gombe delegation also extended their condolences to the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Garbai Al’amin Elkanami, and the affected communities, offering prayers for the deceased and expressing hopes to prevent future disasters.

The delegation concluded their visit with a tour of the flood-affected areas in Maiduguri.
