The Edo State Government has announced the postponement of the resumption of all public and private schools in the state, initially set for Monday, September 9, 2024, until further notice.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Ojo Akin-Longe, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Education.

The statement explained that the decision was made in response to rising tensions stemming from the recent fuel price hike and the difficulties faced by parents and guardians. It directed that schools should remain closed until further notice.

The government also urged parents, guardians, and caregivers to closely monitor their children and wards during this period, given the ongoing situation and heightened tensions due to the fuel price increase.
