The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set Thursday as the final deadline for media organizations to complete their accreditation process for the upcoming Edo State governorship election.
Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, announced this in a statement on Wednesday. He explained that as part of the ongoing preparations for the Edo State Governorship Election, the Commission was reminding all media organizations interested in accrediting their personnel that the portal would close on Thursday, 5th September 2024, at midnight.
Olumekun reported that 113 media organizations had already submitted the details of 865 journalists to cover the election.
He further emphasized that the deadline would be strictly enforced, with no extensions. Media organizations that fail to secure accreditation, he noted, would not be allowed to observe voting or the collation of results at any of the designated centers.
