American billionaire Bill Gates and Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Dangote Group of Companies, are currently participating in the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, is taking place in the Council Chambers at Aso Rock.

Among the attendees spotted at the meeting are Governors Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Babagana Zulum (Borno), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Duoye Diri (Bayelsa), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), and Lawal Dauda (Zamfara). Also present are various ministers and deputy governors representing their principals.

The NEC, a statutory body responsible for advising the President on national economic matters, includes the Vice President, the governors of the 36 states, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Minister of Finance, and other key economic stakeholders.

At the previous NEC meeting, members approved the nomination of six state governors to serve on the Board of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC). These governors, representing the six geopolitical zones, are from Borno, Katsina, Imo, Ekiti, Kwara, and Akwa Ibom states.

A statement from the Vice President’s office, signed by his spokesperson Stanley Nkwocha, highlighted the significance of the NDPHC to Nigeria’s economic development in endorsing these nominations. The meeting also included presentations of key updates and recommendations from various ad hoc committees.
