The chairman of the Nigeria Union of Mine Workers (NUMW) in Anambra State, Comrade Kelvin Onyah, has issued a stern warning to illegal miners disrupting the state government’s operations, urging them to stay away from all authorized mining sites or face legal consequences.

The NUMW, affiliated with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), also praised Governor Charles Soludo for lifting the suspension on all mining activities in the state.

Onyah emphasized that this warning is crucial to prevent unauthorized miners from encroaching on state-approved mining sites and to ensure environmental safety.

In a statement released on Monday in Awka, the state capital, Onyah cautioned all NUMW members against participating in illegal mining activities. He stressed that anyone wishing to work in the mining sector must first register and obtain a valid mining certificate.

The union further warned that those without a mining certificate would be considered illegal miners.
