President Tinubu Arrives in China for State Visit, Set to Meet Xi Jinping and Top Chinese CEOs

President Bola Tinubu has touched down in Beijing, China, for a five-day state visit.

According to a statement from his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu arrived in China around 9:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, where he was greeted by senior Chinese government officials.Governors Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos State and Sani Uba of Kaduna State, along with members of the President’s cabinet, were also present with him.

During his visit, Tinubu is scheduled to engage in discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping and visit two leading Chinese companies, Huawei Technologies and the China Railway and Construction Corporation (CRCC).

Ngelale mentioned that one of the key goals of the visit is to advance the completion of the Ibadan-to-Abuja section of the Lagos-Kano high-speed rail line.

Following these engagements, the President is expected to meet with CEOs from ten major Chinese corporations, which collectively manage assets exceeding $3 trillion across various sectors.

Additionally, Tinubu will participate in the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, where numerous African leaders will discuss significant issues with Chinese officials.
