President Bola Tinubu will formally appoint Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria on Friday, August 23.
This announcement was made by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngalale on Thursday, who also extended the president’s congratulations to the outgoing Chief Justice, Olukayode Ariwoola, upon his retirement.
“President Bola Tinubu congratulates Olukayode Ariwoola on his retirement after a distinguished career in public service,” the statement read.
Ariwoola previously served as a Justice of the Court of Appeal in Kaduna, Enugu, and Lagos before being elevated to the Supreme Court in 2011. He was appointed Chief Justice of Nigeria in 2022 and has made significant contributions to Nigerian jurisprudence and the legal system.
The swearing-in ceremony for Kekere-Ekun will be held at the State House Council Chambers in Abuja.
