Manchester City’s Phil Foden has been named the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year, while Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has been awarded Young Player of the Year. This marks the first time since the 2009-10 season that both PFA awards have been won by English players.
Foden, who netted 19 goals in 35 Premier League matches during the 2023-24 season, played a key role in Manchester City’s historic fourth consecutive league title. At 23, he has now secured six league titles, making him the youngest player to achieve this milestone. Foden edged out City teammates Erling Haaland and Rodri, along with Chelsea’s Palmer, Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard, and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins for the top award.
Cole Palmer, despite narrowly missing out on the top prize, had a standout season with Chelsea, scoring 22 goals in 34 Premier League games. His impressive performance earned him a place in England’s squad for Euro 2024, where he scored in the final despite England’s 2-1 loss to Spain. Palmer won the Young Player of the Year award over Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, former Crystal Palace player Michael Olise, and Brighton’s Joao Pedro.
