On Saturday, Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah set a new Premier League record by surpassing Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, and Alan Shearer for goals scored on opening day. Salah’s goal in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Ipswich Town at Portman Road marked his ninth opening-day goal, outpacing the previous record of eight goals held by Lampard, Rooney, and Shearer.
In addition to his goal, Salah provided an assist, contributing significantly to Liverpool’s victory. Over his eight seasons with Liverpool, Salah has scored on the first day of the Premier League in seven of them, with the exception being last season’s opener against Chelsea.
