The National Judicial Council (NJC) has established four investigative panels to examine allegations of judicial misconduct against 27 high court judges. Additionally, the NJC issued a cautionary advisory to Justice O. M. Olagunju of the Oyo State High Court, urging careful conduct in her judicial role, particularly after she used harsh language in a letter challenging the NJC’s policies and decisions.
The NJC’s 106th meeting, led by outgoing Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, reviewed reports from the Preliminary Complaints Assessment Committee concerning 22 petitions against 27 judges from federal and state high courts. Following this review, the Council formed four committees to further investigate the petitions deemed valid.
According to NJC Director of Information, Mr. Soji Oye, 18 petitions were dismissed as lacking merit, abandoned, or considered subjudice.
