Chinese firm Zhongshan has released one of the three presidential jets it had initially seized in its legal dispute with Ogun State. The Airbus A330, which was held in France under a court order obtained by Zhongshan, was returned to aid the Nigerian President’s upcoming meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The firm described the release as a goodwill gesture to support the President’s travel plans. The release occurs amid ongoing negotiations between Zhongshan and the Federal Government to settle the larger dispute. Details regarding the release of the remaining two aircraft have not been provided.

The conflict between Zhongshan and the Federal Government originates from a prolonged disagreement over the management of the Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ) in Ogun State.
