The Lagos State Government has increased daily passenger trips on the Blue Line rail from 54 to 72, according to Engr. Abimbola Akinajo, Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), who made this known on Saturday, 10th August, 2024. The new schedule reduces travel time between Marina and Mile 2 to just 18 minutes, down from 25 minutes, with trains running every 18 minutes in both directions.
This adjustment aims to shorten journey times, attract more off-peak riders, and reduce transport costs. While Sunday operations remain unchanged, LAMATA is offering a 25% fare discount for off-peak travel between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm daily. Since its launch in September 2023, the Blue Line has transported nearly two million passengers, following its commissioning by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
