Kano APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, has raised alarm over repeated palliative diversions by NNPP government officials, demanding an independent investigation and threatening legal action if ignored. A key allegation involves Shehu Sagagi, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, who is accused of diverting federal rice to his Islamic school. Abbas highlighted the discovery of rice labeled “Federal Government Food Security Program” at the school as evidence, though Sagagi denies the claims, asserting the rice was privately obtained or donated.

Abbas criticized the NNPP government for its failure to address these issues, suggesting it may be complicit. He cited past incidents, including the arrest of Tasiu Al’amin-Roba for palliative diversion and the suspension of KASCO MD Dr. Tukur Dayyabu Minjibir for grain misappropriation. Abbas also accused state officials of rebranding federal palliatives for their own distribution and selling aid meant for farmers, undermining President Bola Tinubu’s support efforts. Public frustration, highlighted by the #EndBadGovernance protests, reflects the ineffectiveness of federal aid in Kano, according to Abbas.
