Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Julian Alvarez will be moving to Atletico Madrid, speaking at a press conference before the Community Shield match against Manchester United. The transfer agreement between the two clubs has been finalized, signaling the Argentine striker’s departure.
Guardiola, who is known for not hesitating to let go of players who are not fully committed to the team, was direct in his comments. When asked about Alvarez, Guardiola confirmed the transfer, saying, “He was an important part of our squad, and we appreciate everything he has done. His conduct was exemplary, but he was ready for a new challenge. Atletico Madrid is one of the best teams in both Spain and Europe.”
Guardiola further explained, “There’s no reason for him to stay if he’s looking to move on. We wish him success. Julian felt that his journey here was complete, and the two clubs have come to an agreement.”
