Suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked the Jakana Police Station in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, killing a policeman and a woman, and stealing arms and ammunition, according to a Daily Trust report. Security sources reported that the insurgents also set two patrol vehicles and a motorcycle on fire.
Daily Trust noted that the attackers arrived at the police station around 1:00 am, surprising the security personnel and engaging them in a gunfight until 3:00 am. They overpowered the officers, gained access to the station, and looted arms and ammunition. They also destroyed two patrol vehicles, one belonging to the police and the other to the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Hon. Abbas Ali Abari, Chairman of Konduga Local Government, confirmed the attack to journalists and promised to provide more details as they become available. Attempts to reach Nahun Kenneth, the Police Public Relations Officer for Borno State command, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to phone calls or text messages.
Jakana, located along the Damaturu-Maiduguri expressway, is approximately 45 kilometers from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
