Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has expressed that nationwide protests are not the solution to Nigeria’s current challenges.

Speaking at an emergency town hall meeting at the Banquet Hall, Government House, on Monday, in response to the planned nationwide protest, Governor Namadi acknowledged the economic hardships, insecurity, and social unrest affecting many Nigerians.

He recognized that while protests are a democratic right, they are not the most effective way to resolve these issues.

“I firmly believe that protests alone will not provide the solutions we seek. It is time for all of us to turn to Allah, reflect on our relationship with our Creator, seek His forgiveness, and ask for His guidance in overcoming these challenges,” Governor Namadi stated.

He urged citizens to seek divine intervention, emphasizing that turning to Allah is the ultimate remedy for the country’s problems.

The governor highlighted the government’s efforts to alleviate citizens’ suffering, including approving duty-free importation of major food items and implementing empowerment packages.

The Emir of Hadejia, Adamu Abubakar Maje, speaking on behalf of traditional rulers, noted that Nigerians are experiencing severe difficulties, but the planned mass protest may not be the solution.

“We do not support the protest. Let each one of us reflect on our actions between ourselves and God, families, and relatives,” he remarked.

Sheikh Khadi Bashir Ahmad, Chairman of the Council of Ulama, emphasized that only God has the power to change the situation.

He encouraged citizens to repent and continuously seek forgiveness from Allah and His swift intervention to resolve the country’s problems.
