Ali Ndume has spoken out about his removal as the Chief Whip of the Senate, asserting that his actions did not justify his dismissal after reviewing the situation that led to his ouster.

Ndume was removed from his position following his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Two days later, the lawmaker also declined the chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Tourism, citing a lack of experience and exposure to lead such a significant committee.

Speaking in Maiduguri, his hometown, 2 days after his removal, the Borno South lawmaker stated that he had no desire to be the Senate Chief Whip after having served as the leader in the eighth Senate.

“I Stand by My Statements””I did not say anything wrong. Therefore, I stand by all my statements in the interview I granted,” the senator asserted.

“I know I’m not wrong. The people are not wrong for speaking the truth and standing by it,” the 64-year-old continued.

He expressed hope that President Tinubu, upon hearing his statements, would take appropriate measures to alleviate the suffering of the people.

Ndume explained that he was given the opportunity to choose a committee to serve as vice chairman due to his successful role in the campaigns that led to Godswill Akpabio becoming Senate President.

“Secondly, the party recommended my removal as Senate Chief Whip. I see this as an act of God because if God gave me the position, it is God who took it away through the APC. I hold no grudges,” Ndume stated.

“After all, I did not contest to be the Chief Whip. I did not contest to be the vice chairman of the Appropriations Committee. I contested to be one of the Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and God granted me that victory. I am content with what God has given me.”
