The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (Gavi) announced on Friday that cholera vaccines will soon be delivered to Nigeria.
Gavi’s CEO, Sania Nishtar, confirmed this on his X page, stating that Gavi is ready to work with UNICEF and WHO to help combat the ongoing cholera outbreak.
“We are prepared to collaborate with our partners, UNICEF and WHO, to support Minister Muhammad Pate, the Nigerian federal ministry of health, and the NCDC in their efforts to control this outbreak and protect those at highest risk.
“Despite the numerous cholera outbreaks this year, our stockpile is fully replenished, and production is continuing at maximum capacity,” Nishtar stated.
Currently, Nigeria has reported 3,623 suspected cholera cases and 103 deaths across 34 states.
