Hajia Nana Shettima, the Vice President’s wife, recently lost her mother, Hajia Maryam Albishir, who passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024.
During her condolence visit, the First Lady highlighted the crucial role mothers play in shaping their children’s lives. She noted that while daughters often gravitate towards their fathers, the influence of mothers is profound and indispensable.
“The influence of the mother is great. Though our fathers tend not to scold us as much as our mothers, what our mothers do, especially when we are still very young, is really remarkable,” she said. “I know you will miss her very much, but she has done so well, and I pray Almighty Allah remembers all her good work and forgives her shortcomings. The loss of a mother is truly painful, and no matter how old she is, you never want her to go.”
The First Lady also prayed for strength for Hajia Nana Shettima and her family, urging them to bear the loss with resilience.
In response, the Vice President’s wife expressed her gratitude for the First Lady’s visit.
Oluremi Tinubu was accompanied by the wives of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Deputy Senate President, the Imo State Governor, and the Chief of Staff to the President.
