A High Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has sentenced Ayegbusi Ojo to life imprisonment for the rape of a minor.
Justice J.O. Adeyeye delivered the conviction and sentence on Wednesday, finding Ojo guilty of raping a 15-year-old girl.
The incident occurred when the victim was returning from school and was approached by Ojo, who lured her into his room and sexually assaulted her.
The girl did not disclose the incident, but her father discovered it when she collapsed at home, bleeding from her private parts.
She was taken to the hospital, leading to Ojo’s arrest and subsequent court charges.
Ojo was charged with rape under Section 31 (2) of the Child’s Rights Law, Cap C7 Laws of Ekiti State 2012.
Ekiti State Director of Public Prosecutions, Julius Ajibare, presented five witnesses and three exhibits to support the case.
The judge concluded that the prosecution had proven the rape charge against Ojo beyond a reasonable doubt, resulting in his life imprisonment sentence.
