The Federal High Court in Nigeria has dismissed Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla from the FIRS tax evasion case against Binance following the appointment of a Nigerian representative for the company.
The court removed the charges against Gambaryan and Anjarwalla after Binance and the FIRS confirmed Ayodele Omotilewa as Binance’s representative, leading the FIRS to file new charges with Binance as the sole defendant.
The case concerns allegations that Binance failed to collect and remit taxes, including VAT and CIT, from its Nigerian operations. Further proceedings are scheduled for July 12 to discuss the plea and whether the Nigerian representative should appear in court.
On Friday, the Federal High Court discharged 39-year-old American Tigran Gambaryan and the absconding Nadeem Anjarwalla from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) tax evasion case against Binance. This decision followed the FIRS’s filing of amended charges after receiving notice of Ayodele Omotilewa’s appointment as Binance’s Nigerian representative.
Previously, Nairametrics reported that on March 22, 2024, the FIRS initiated legal proceedings against Binance and Gambaryan, alleging tax evasion.
