President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic passing of Malawi Vice President, Saulos Chilima.
Reports indicate that a military aircraft carrying the VP and nine others, including former First Lady Shanil Dzimbiri, failed to land on Monday morning. They were en route to attend the funeral of Ralph Kasambala, a prominent Malawian lawyer, former Attorney General, and Justice Minister, in Mzuzu. Sadly, the VP and the other passengers were reported deceased on Tuesday.
In a statement released by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, on Tuesday, President Tinubu conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, acknowledging the immense grief brought about by the tragedy.
He also extended sincere sympathies to His Excellency, President Lazarus Chakwera, and the people of Malawi, assuring them of Nigeria’s unwavering support during this period of mourning. Additionally, he offered prayers for the eternal rest of the departed souls.
