The Nigerian federal government has promised to bring back electricity to eight local government areas in Sokoto State, which have been without power for nearly ten years.Â
The Minister of Power, Adelabu Adebayo, assured this during a meeting with the state governor, Ahmed Aliyu. A delegation from the Ministry of Power has been sent to evaluate the situation and restore electricity.
Mustafa Baba Umarah, the Director of Distribution at the Federal Ministry of Power, stated that the government is dedicated to providing electricity to all Nigerians, regardless of their location. Sanusi Dan Fulani, the state’s Commissioner for Energy, emphasized the importance of electricity for economic growth, especially in rural areas. He urged the communities to support the restoration project.
The eight local government areas set for reconnection are Isa, Sabon Birni, Goronyo, Wurno, Rabah, Gada, Illela, and Gwadabawa.
