The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has made significant strides in processing entry visas for the 2024 pilgrims bound for Saudi Arabia.
During the Maiden Stakeholders Summit on Nigeria’s Hajj and Umrah Industry in Abuja, Malam Jalal Arabi, the Executive Chairman of NAHCON, shared that the commission has set May 15 for the inaugural flight of the 2024 Hajj.
Arabi also disclosed that approved air carriers are poised to transport Nigerian pilgrims from over 10 departure centers. He mentioned plans for NAHCON officials to meet with these carriers and aviation partners to finalize logistics.
In a departure from past practices, Arabi highlighted that all pilgrims from states will spend a maximum of four days in Madinah before the Hajj rites begin. He stressed the collaborative efforts of stakeholders to enhance services for pilgrims, acknowledging the summit’s role in facilitating cooperation.
Arabi extended gratitude to Vice-President Kashim Shettima for his ongoing support and appreciated the guidance of Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III.
Prof. Mohammed Maiturare, the Rector of the institute hosting the summit, emphasized its purpose: to foster cooperation among NAHCON, state pilgrims’ boards, tour operators, and industry stakeholders. He underscored the importance of dialogue and collaboration in overcoming challenges for a successful 2024 Hajj.
The two-day summit, organized by the Hajj Institute of Nigeria under NAHCON, seeks to enhance collaboration and coordination within the Hajj industry.
