The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, into custody as part of an ongoing investigation into a substantial sum of ₦8,069,176,864.00 allegedly involved in money laundering.
Sirika presented himself at the EFCC’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command on Tuesday, April 23, at approximately 1:00 p.m.
This arrest follows allegations of embezzlement exceeding ₦8 billion, purportedly connected to the Nigerian Air scandal, during Sirika’s tenure as aviation minister in the previous administration.
Presently, Sirika is undergoing questioning by EFCC investigators regarding suspected fraudulent contracts awarded to Engirios Nigeria Limited, a company reportedly owned by his younger sibling, Abubakar Sirika.
