The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern condemnation following the brutal attack on Terwase Orbunde, former Chief of Staff to ex-Governor Samuel Ortom.
The assault, which occurred on Orbunde’s farm in Makurdi, resulted in his injury from a gunshot wound to the arm, while his wife, Kashimana, and their maid, Patience Ogute, were abducted by unknown assailants suspected to be armed herdsmen.
The gunmen have since contacted the family, demanding a ransom of N100 million for the release of the kidnapped individuals, threatening grave consequences if their demands are not met.
In response to this distressing incident, the Benue State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Bemgba Iortym, issued a statement urging Governor Hyacinth Alia to spare no effort in ensuring the safe and prompt release of the abducted victims.
The PDP vehemently condemns this heinous act and expresses profound concern over the escalating insecurity in the state. It is evident that no one, not even in the capital city of Makurdi, is immune to such perilous attacks.
Meanwhile, the party called upon Governor Alia to deploy all available resources, including the security vote, and demonstrate unwavering political will to confront the menace of insecurity in the state, particularly as it is largely driven by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen and bandits.
