In a new development, the North Central APC Forum has issued a call for a cooperative working relationship between Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the recently sworn-in members of the House of Assembly.

The Speaker recently administered the oath of office to eight APC and one Labour Party legislators in Jos, following a prolonged period of contention.

In response to this development, the Forum emphasized the paramount importance of unity between the legislative and executive branches for the advancement of peace and progress in the state and the broader North Central region. The statement was released in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

The Forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, and Secretary, Sani Muhammed Kogi, underscored the need to set aside past conflicts surrounding the Appeal Court’s ruling, which declared APC candidates as winners over their PDP counterparts. They emphasized that such reconciliation is vital for effective governance.

Highlighting the significance of a harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government, the Forum urged the nine newly inaugurated APC members out of the 16 to collaborate effectively with Governor Caleb Mutfwang, despite his affiliation with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). They emphasized that this collaboration is crucial for fostering peace, stability, and development in Plateau State and the wider North Central region.

The Forum also urged the Speaker to expedite the swearing-in of the remaining members to ensure the seamless continuation of legislative activities. They further called upon all members, as well as the house leadership, to refrain from actions that could sow discord among themselves or with the governor, as they await the induction of the remaining legislators.
