Top Security Officials Call for Collective Action Against Insecurity in Nigeria

The top security officials in Nigeria have urged Nigerians to actively engage in the ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping, banditry, and other security threats, emphasizing the collective nature of this endeavor. 

This call was made during the seventh annual Ramadan Lecture Series and Prayers for the nation held in Abuja, themed ‘Balancing Religious Rites and Public Safety: The Intersection of Ramadan, Hajj, and National Security.’

Representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff, including Maj-Gen. Olatokunbo Bello, stressed the importance of citizens supporting government initiatives and avoiding actions that could worsen the security situation. They highlighted the dedicated efforts of the armed forces and security agencies while emphasizing the crucial role of public cooperation.

Founder of the foundation and Chief Imam of Nasirul-Lahi-Li-Fatih, Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), Sheik Sharafudeen Abdulsalam Aliagan, reiterated the foundation’s commitment to Nigeria’s security and development, guiding the choice of the event’s theme.

Similarly, representatives of the Chief of Air Staff and the Chief of Naval Staff, Air Commodore Lawal Lukman and Rear Admiral Malami Haruna Rasheed respectively, emphasized the shared responsibility in safeguarding citizens and restoring normalcy in the nation.

National Chief Imam Sheikh Fuad Adeyemi and Dr. Nurein Dindi, Imam of Nawar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, emphasized the significance of utilizing the Ramadan period for seeking divine intervention to address the country’s challenges.
