Labour unions at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu (FNHE), have appealed to President Bola Tinubu for immediate intervention in the suspension of their Medical Director, Prof. Monday Nwite Igwe.

They argue that Igwe’s suspension on September 20, 2023, occurred without proper investigation, following allegations from a civil society organization.

Representatives from the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU), National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), and the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) jointly signed the appeal letter dated March 5, 2024.

The signatories, including Obinna Eze, Eric Ugwu, Nnabuchi Jane, and Ezea Christian, expressed frustration over the lack of feedback from the Ministry of Health’s investigation team despite their cooperation.

In the letter, obtained by our correspondent in Abuja, the union members urged the president to ensure a transparent reinstatement process by demanding a detailed report based on truth and adherence to public service rule
