Yobe State Governor, Honorable Mai Mala Buni, has initiated the distribution of dry season farming supplies from the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to farmers across all 17 local government areas of the state.
The aim is to support around 1,500 small-scale dry season farmers in this round of distribution. Representing the governor, his deputy, Honorable Idi Barde Gubana, emphasized the consistent support of NEDC to the farmers in Yobe and neighboring regions.
He highlighted the importance of this support, noting its timely arrival to enhance food production both locally and nationally. Beneficiaries were encouraged to utilize the farming inputs effectively for the betterment of their communities and the state as a whole.
Mohammed Goni Alkali, the Managing Director of NEDC, expressed satisfaction with the improving peace situation in many communities of Yobe State, promising further assistance from the Commission.
He assured that the distributed items would enhance the efforts of dry season farmers, pledging ongoing support to Governor Buni’s agricultural initiatives for empowerment and wealth creation. NEDC has been actively involved in aiding the Northeast region since its establishment in 2019, focusing on peace-building, livelihood recovery, reconstruction, rehabilitation, and resettlement.
Alkali emphasized that 1,500 small-scale dry season farmers spread across 17 Local Government Areas will benefit from this intervention. He urged recipients to utilize the agricultural inputs effectively to ensure a fruitful harvest by the end of the season.
Several beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to NEDC and the Yobe State Government for providing them with essential tools during this challenging economic period. They committed to utilizing the supplies effectively to enhance dry season farming within their communities.
