In a new development, the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has firmly denied rumors suggesting the relocation of a fire-fighting simulator from the Nigerian College of Technology, Zaria, to Lagos State.
This refutation follows widespread speculation sparked by a video depicting discussions within the House of Representatives. In the video, a respected member of the House alluded to a purported plan by the Ministry to transfer the fire-fighting simulator to Lagos State.
The Ministry’s rebuttal was communicated through a formal statement issued by Tunde Moshood, the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
Moshood’s statement aimed to dispel these unfounded rumors, affirming unequivocally that there has been no such intention to relocate the simulator, as speculated.
“The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development wishes to address the circulating video depicting a motion raised in the House of Representatives regarding an alleged plan to move a fire-fighting simulator from the Nigerian College of Technology, Zaria, to Lagos State,” the statement read.
Moreover, the statement expressed the Ministry’s appreciation for the House’s patriotic concern in deliberating on the motion. However, it emphasized the redundancy of such deliberations, as the Minister had previously assured the Speaker in a private meeting that the rumor was entirely baseless.
To provide further clarity, the Minister personally reached out to the Rector of the Nigerian College of Technology in Zaria, who confirmed to the Speaker that the rumor had no factual basis and was simply a result of mischief-making. This interaction between the Minister and the Rector underscores the unwarranted nature of the motion brought before the House.
The Ministry urges the public to disregard these groundless rumors and underscores that perpetuating such falsehoods for political gain serves only to sow discord without any tangible benefit.
