In a demonstration of their dissatisfaction with the prevailing economic challenges in the nation, members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have initiated protests in multiple regions of the country.
Despite a late meeting on Monday between representatives of the Labour and Federal Government, no consensus was reached to avert the planned protests.
Beginning as early as 7:00 am, demonstrators gathered in various locations across the country, brandishing placards and wearing NLC paraphernalia.
Reports indicate a significant deployment of security personnel across different states, reflecting the frustrations expressed by protesters regarding the current nationwide hardships.
Policemen were observed stationed at major junctions along the planned three-kilometer route, in line with the authorities’ commitment to maintaining peace and order during the protests.
This rally transpired following an unsuccessful eleventh-hour attempt by the Federal Government to prevent the NLC’s two-day warning strike and national protests against the economic challenges faced by the country.
