Nigeria Customs Service to Distribute Seized Food Items Amidst Economic Hardship

In response to the prevailing economic challenges and protests over soaring food prices, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced plans to distribute confiscated food items to alleviate the hardship experienced by Nigerians.

This decision, disclosed by Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi on Tuesday, underscores the NCS’s commitment to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s food security agenda.

According to CSC Abdullahi Maiwada, the NCS National Public Relations Officer, the distribution will occur only after rigorous inspection to ensure the safety of the food items for consumption. Emphasizing transparency, fairness, and public safety, Maiwada stated that the disposal process will be communicated through NCS formations nationwide.

The initiative aims to address food scarcity and high prices by making forfeited food items available to Nigerians across the country. Maiwada assured that the distribution would prioritize those most in need, reflecting the NCS’s dedication to safeguarding food security and promoting economic well-being.

With a firm commitment to transparency and public welfare, the NCS aims to mitigate the challenges faced by Nigerians and pave the way for a more prosperous future.
