Aisha Yesufu, known for her activism, has criticized Nigerians protesting against the country’s severe economic hardships.
Currently, many Nigerian families struggle to afford even one meal a day, prompting protests in various parts of the country, including Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. The protests address issues such as soaring living costs, food inflation, and overall economic distress.
Angry youths in Oyo State took to the streets, displaying placards with messages like ‘End food hike and inflation’ and ‘The poor are starving,’ expressing their discontent. Aisha Yesufu, prominent for her involvement in the Bring Back Our Girls campaign, condemned those protesting food inflation, suggesting they remained silent when faced with atrocities committed by groups like Boko Haram and bandits.
She highlighted the displacement of farmers and the lack of empathy shown towards victims of violence.
