The Abia State government has issued a stern warning to drug dealers and criminals, urging them to vacate the state or face severe legal consequences.
Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu delivered this strong message during a press briefing on the outcomes of a joint operation conducted by Abia Homeland Security and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Umuahia.
Emetu emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to transforming Abia through its comprehensive rebuilding agenda and declared a zero-tolerance stance towards criminal activities. He stressed that drugs serve as the cornerstone for various criminal endeavors and reiterated that Abia will not serve as a safe haven for lawbreakers.
Furthermore, Emetu commended the successful outcome of the joint operation, which resulted in the arrest of several drug dealers and the seizure of illicit substances. Among those arrested was Adaobi Nweke, found in possession of a significant quantity of prohibited drugs in her Umuahia residence.
Nweke, allegedly the daughter of the late notorious drug lord Joe King Jaguar, has reportedly been involved in illegal drug trade for an extended period.
In addition, the government, represented by Senior Special Assistant Chukwunenye Alajemba, conducted raids on a popular hotel in Umuahia, demonstrating its unwavering resolve to combat illegal drugs and criminal activities. Alajemba affirmed the ongoing campaign against drugs and warned peddlers to cease their illicit activities immediately.
The briefing, attended by NDLEA State Commander Adelanwa Adetunsi and Special Adviser to the Governor Ferdinand Ekeoma, underscored the government’s determination to uphold law and order in Abia State.
