Governor Umo Eno Designates January 2 as Work-Free for Akwa Ibom’s New Year Worship

Governor Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially declared January 2, 2024, a day off for the entire state, allowing residents to partake in the New Year’s interdenominational thanksgiving ceremony at the International Christian Worship Centre in Uyo, the state capital.

The governor conveyed this announcement during his Boxing Day address in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, where he underscored the importance of unity and progress.

Governor Eno extended a warm invitation to all state residents, urging them to join together as a united community under a common faith during the New Year service. He emphasized that the designated day off is an opportunity for everyone to worship collectively and dedicate the upcoming year to divine guidance.

The governor expressed his appreciation to the former governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, and his wife, Dr Martha Emmanuel, as well as various political, religious, and traditional leaders, the people of Akwa Ibom, non-indigenous residents, and distinguished guests who traveled from afar to attend the event. He characterized the gathering as a significant and unifying occasion.
