The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced that on December 23, the Air Component of Operation Delta Safe executed air strikes, effectively obliterating six illegal oil refining sites situated in Opu Arugbana, Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, highlighted that these targeted airstrikes are part of the ongoing campaign to eradicate the operations of oil thieves and pipeline vandals in the Niger Delta region.
The unauthorized sites were identified within an approximately 80-meter radius, prompting the necessary authorization to eliminate them and dissuade criminals from continuing their illicit activities. Despite the holiday season, NAF maintains its commitment to conducting aerial operations against criminal elements throughout various regions of the country.
Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, praised the efforts of Air Component Commanders and encouraged them to persist until criminal activities are significantly curtailed.
