The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a comprehensive weather forecast, indicating a blend of haziness and sunshine expected across the country from Saturday to Monday.
As detailed in the weather outlook released in Abuja on Friday, NiMet predicts moderate dust haze on Saturday, with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km over the northern region during the forecast period.
The forecast specifies a sunny sky within a hazy atmosphere over the north-central cities and the inland cities of the south. Additionally, partly cloudy skies are anticipated in a hazy atmosphere over the coastal regions of the country.
The forecast highlights the potential for localized thunderstorms over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states later in the day.
Moving into Monday, NiMet anticipates moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility of 2km to 5km over the North, North central, and the inland cities of the South during the forecast period. Over the coastal cities, the forecast indicates a presence of few cloud patches in a hazy atmosphere throughout the forecast period.
NiMet advises the public to take necessary precautions due to suspended dust particles and urges individuals with asthma and respiratory issues to exercise caution in the prevailing weather conditions. Furthermore, airline operators are encouraged to obtain updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning.
