Jarrod Bowen celebrating his goal in a 2-0 victory versus Manchester United

Manchester United faced a disappointing Christmas as West Ham dealt them their eighth Premier League defeat of the season with a 2-0 loss at the London Stadium.

In a rather uneventful match, West Ham broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute when Lucas Paqueta set up Jarrod Bowen for the first goal. Mohammed Kudus capitalized on Kobbie Mainoo’s defensive mistake, securing a 2-0 lead for the home side.

With just one win in their last five league games, Manchester United, led by Erik ten Hag, find themselves with more losses than victories this season. The loss pushed West Ham to sixth place, surpassing United who slipped to eighth. Bowen expressed West Ham’s aspirations to be in the “top six, minimum,” and David Moyes hailed the “amazing” feeling of being in the top six at Christmas. Manchester United will host unexpected title-challengers Aston Villa on Boxing Day, while West Ham is set to face Arsenal on December 28th.
