The Ondo State government vehemently denies the circulating reports alleging that the acting governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, has frozen the bank accounts of local government councils in the state.

The government categorically dismisses this news, along with the claims of the suspension of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s Chief of Protocol, Mr. Bola Alabi, describing them as “false and misleading.”

Issuing a statement, the state’s Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, emphasizes that at no point did the acting governor or any state official freeze the local government accounts. Ademola-Olateju urges the people of Ondo State, especially local government officials, to disregard the unfounded rumors.

The Commissioner assures that the required personnel and civil servants have been deployed to the Local Council Development Areas (LCDA(s)) with clear instructions to exercise due diligence and adhere to proper processes in their operations. The government underscores its unwavering commitment to the efficient functioning of both the new thirty-three LCDA(s) and the existing 18 local government areas, emphasizing the aim of bolstering grassroots development.

Addressing a lawsuit filed by the opposition party in the State High Court, Ademola-Olateju expresses optimism for a swift resolution of the issues at hand. The statement outlines the ongoing delineation of Councillorship Electoral Wards by the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) as part of the broader transition guidelines.

Regarding the social media misrepresentation of a circular letter related to the Acting Governor’s engagements, the government clarifies that Chief of Protocol Mr. Bola Alabi has not been subjected to any suspension. The statement underscores Alabi’s multifaceted responsibilities, extending beyond the preparation of the governor’s engagements, and assures the public that any necessary adjustments will be made to ensure effective administration.

The public is urged to verify information related to the Ondo State Government from reliable sources before disseminating it further.
