Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi has received an official warning from the Football Association regarding his future conduct following recent remarks about referees.
The 44-year-old Italian expressed his displeasure, stating he disliked “80% of England’s referees” after his team’s 1-1 draw against Sheffield United on November 12. Brighton had been in the lead for much of the match until midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud received a red card, after which Sheffield United equalized.
De Zerbi engaged with the officials after the game, and during a post-match press conference, he reiterated his dissatisfaction with the behavior of England’s referees, saying, “I am honest and clear; I don’t like 80% of England’s referees.” Brighton is currently positioned eighth in the Premier League standings and is scheduled to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
