President’s Borrowing Plan Request Presented to Senate for Consideration

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wrote a formal letter to the Senate, urging them to promptly consider and approve the 2022-2024 External Borrowing Plan. The goal is to ensure the timely implementation of various projects.

Furthermore, during a session on Wednesday, the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, made an announcement regarding a request from Tinubu. This request pertained to the confirmation of nominations for ten Resident Electoral Commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as per the provisions of Section 154(1) of the constitution. The Senate commenced the screening process for these nominees.

In addition, the Senate granted approval for the appointments of seven of the nominees selected by President Tinubu to serve as Resident Electoral Commissioners. The approved nominees include Mr. Etekamba Umoren from Akwa Ibom, Mr. Isha Ehimeakne from Edo, Barrister Oluwatoyin Babalola from Ekiti, Mr. Abubakar Ahmed from Gombe, Shehu Wahab from Kwara, Aminu Idris from Nasarawa, and Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq from Niger.
