High-Tension Cable Sparks Deadly Fire in Jos North Local Government Area

A fire outbreak in Kabong, Gada Biyu, located in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, has resulted in the tragic loss of seven lives, with several others sustaining injuries.

The fire, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, was ignited by a high-tension cable coming into contact with service wires that supplied electricity to the community. This unfortunate incident led to fatalities and extensive property damage.

Kabong is a densely populated area, serving as both a residential and commercial hub. As a result of the fire, numerous businesses in the community suffered substantial losses.

Tragically, a single family within the community experienced the loss of two of its members. Naomi David, aged 54, and Abraham David, aged 39, lost their lives while attempting to disconnect one of their appliances during the fire outbreak.

The deceased have been taken to the Bingham University Teaching Hospital Mortuary, where some of the injured received medical attention. Those with severe burns have been referred to the Jos University Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

In response to this tragic incident, a team from the Jos Metropolitan Development Board visited the scene to assess the extent of damage and explore measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
