The Federal Government has launched the initial phase of the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program, and applications for participation are now being accepted.
Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, officially inaugurated the program’s application portal. The 3MTT program, a fundamental component of the Renewed Hope agenda, has the primary objective of nurturing Nigeria’s technical talent reservoir to propel its digital economy and establish the nation as a significant exporter of technical expertise.
During the inaugural phase of the program, which is being executed in partnership with NITDA, multiple stakeholders, including fellows, training providers, partners, and placement organizations, will participate. The government, in this initial phase, will identify individuals with an interest in specific skills and sponsor the cost of their training through approved training providers.
The Minister expounded on the framework of the initial phase, highlighting its goal to train and place 30,000 technical talents, which represents 1% of the overall target. This endeavor is being executed based on a collaborative framework devised with the input of key stakeholders from government agencies, training providers, educational institutions, development agencies, and the private sector.
In the first phase, participants will receive training in skills that leverage technology to enhance various functions, even if they do not entail direct tech development. These proficiencies encompass Digital Marketing, Project Management Software, Cloud Platforms Navigation, Data Analysis and Visualization, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), CRM Management, Accounting Software, Graphics Design, UX/UI Design, and more.
The Ministry, following the “1%-10%-100% Implementation Rule,” will incrementally expand the program, ensuring a high success rate while optimizing costs before scaling it to a broader population. This rule adheres to a stepwise approach, commencing with prototyping (1%), followed by piloting (10%), and culminating in scaling (100%).
Nigerians interested in participating in the training program can submit their applications via the provided application portal.
