Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka will miss England’s upcoming matches against Australia and Italy due to injury. Saka was sidelined with a hamstring injury, causing him to miss Arsenal’s Premier League victory over Manchester City.
Following an assessment by England’s medical team, it was confirmed that Saka would be unable to participate in the matches. Consequently, the squad will consist of 25 players for the fixtures against Australia on October 13th and Italy four days later.
Arsenal manager Arteta, discussing Saka’s injury after the Manchester City match, revealed that Saka hadn’t taken part in any training sessions and was presently unfit to play football. Although the precise duration of Saka’s recovery was not disclosed, it is evident that he will not be available for the upcoming matches.
Saka’s absence from the Manchester City game marked the end of his streak of 87 consecutive Premier League appearances under Arteta’s management. He had been grappling with hamstring problems, necessitating early exits from matches, including a recent Champions League loss to Lens and last weekend’s triumph against Bournemouth.
England’s manager, Gareth Southgate, emphasized that they would not risk Saka’s well-being, even though England has the chance to secure qualification for the European Championship during this international break. Southgate stressed their duty to prioritize the long-term health of players and avoid compromising their physical condition.
