The Senate has granted approval to three ministerial nominees: Jamila Ibrahim representing Kwara State, Balarabe Lawal representing Kaduna State, and Ayodele Olawande representing Ondo State.
These confirmations come as an addition to the 45 nominees previously endorsed by the Senate back in August.
The Senate’s approval of these nominees followed a formal request by President Bola Tinubu to the Senate for their confirmation, just one day prior to the Senate’s decision.
The confirmation process, initiated around 1 pm on Wednesday and lasting for approximately two and a half hours, involved Senate President Godwill Akpabio presenting the nominations for a voice vote. The senators voted in favor of confirming these nominees.
In a surprising turn of events, Balarabe Lawal collapsed after delivering his introductory remarks, leading to an immediate response from several individuals present to provide assistance. While he was unable to answer questions at that moment, his nomination was subsequently confirmed. Thankfully, he was revived shortly after the incident.
